For past
few days I am thinking deeper into idea of a nation and driving positive change
in the society. I am trying to understand above said concepts. In this process
I heard few good speeches by Mr. Jaya prakash narayan& Guru Sadguru from
Isha foundation. I am inspired by these two. These two are in the process of
awakening society about idea of nation& driving positive change in
different ways.
It is
thrilled to know that undivided civilization is there for 5000 years in India
and second country to have such a heritage after china. Though Mesopotamia has 10000 years history,
they don't have continued history.
I feel proud to be part of culture which showed the world how we can get Independence without violence. After that INDIA integrated 562 princely states without
violence to form a nation. Only violence happened for Hyderabad state and 5
people died. this is remarkable achievement and never happened in the world. The astonishing fact is the India never invaded on any country in past 10000 years.
India has a
wise and great culture which can accommodate new religions and casts and so
happened many times in the history. Perhaps India is the only place where we
can see many religions, languages, geographical diversity coexists. This makes me proud to be an Indian.
I must
touch upon Indian democracy. It is very difficult to provide freedom to citizen
in terms of speech, way of living in a such a diversified environment. Indian constitution
provided all these to all citizens and we have a real freedom in our
country. We have given voting rights to
all citizens above 18 including illiterates by recognizing real democracy. We
are pioneers in this area. Later many countries followed it. Of course there
are few glitches as well in form of modern politics. I am sure Indian can pass
this phase and move towards good politics.
I must acknowledge the fact that we are still developing nation even after 60 years of Independence. I feel this is because of political system not because of potential. we have so many natural resources& huge human resources to become a developed nation. Don't forget the fact that we were the richest country in the world before 17th century. Our economy is 3% of global GDP same as in 1947. All development measure parameters like healthcare, education, per capital income have to improve a lot. Many analysts in the world are predicting that INDIA is going to be top three economies in the world and beat USA by 2040. This will happens when we do right things for next 20 years. There is lot more to do to outperform our peers and become developed nation.
So I urge everyone to part of change and put pressure on our political system in a democratic way. Democracy should win ultimately. With this positive note & hope I am concluding this post.
